Event Information

This Monday, we take a journey across the U.S. through cities and neighborhoods filled with everyday voices, curious questions, and quiet moments of connection. Here we meet Johnny, a soft-spoken and emotionally reserved radio journalist who travels the country recording children’s honest and imaginative thoughts about their communities and their future.

When his sister Viv asks him to look after her nine-year-old son Jesse while she deals with her partner’s mental health crisis, Johnny suddenly finds himself responsible for a child he barely knows. As they spend time together and travel across the country, the two slowly form a deeper bond. Through ordinary conversations, playful moments, and occasional misunderstandings, Johnny begins to discover a new understanding of care, communication, and connection.

👨🏻‍🦱🎙️👦 C'mon C'mon (2021) 🖤🤍🇺🇸

❤️WHAT I LOVE about this film is its deeply humanistic storytelling and the incredibly intimate, natural performances by Joaquin Phoenix and young Woody Norman as the uncle and nephew! The script was inspired by director Mike Mills’s own experience raising his child, and the dialogue was rewritten by the actors in many moments, giving the story a rare sense of authenticity.

📖Rather than dramatic incidents, the film focuses on emotional truth and genuine human connection. The small moments Johnny and Jesse share become quietly touching, deeply intimate, and mindful, allowing us to experience the confusing, imperfect, and tender process of caring for a child alongside Johnny.

🎥The black-and-white cinematography is also stunning, poetic, and sometimes dreamlike! The director chose to remove color so that the film could focus on the essentials: light, shadow, and human expression. Together, these elements create a heartfelt journey into the depths of intimate human connection.

🏆 Nominated for one BAFTA Award and won 16 awards worldwide, including four acting awards for Woody Norman for his remarkable performance as Jesse.

Do not miss this beautiful and deeply moving cinematic experience on our big screen!

✨ After the film, let’s engage in a friendly discussion to share thoughts, learn from each other, and make new friends!
