This Monday, we will take a journey to postwar Poland, under Soviet control, a group of musicians travels through the countryside, collecting traditional Polish folk songs from peasant villages and building a state-sponsored ensemble of musicians, singers, and dancers. Among them are Wiktor, a pianist and music director, and Zula, a young singer whose extraordinary voice and magnetic presence immediately catch his attention. As the ensemble rises to fame, so does their love, unfolding through music, performance, and a rapidly changing world. But as politics begins to reshape the music and their lives, Wiktor tries to persuade Zula to flee communist Poland with him, setting them on the path of an almost impossible romance.
