Two strangers from different worlds, one shared compartment, and a journey to the Arctic. This is the unlikely equation behind one of Finland’s most acclaimed films of 2021.
Hello ✨ Soulbrighters! This Monday, we travel to Moscow and meet Laura, a Finnish archaeology student, books a long train journey from Moscow to Murmansk to see the Kanozero petroglyphs. She ends up sharing a cramped sleeping compartment with a rough Russian miner named Ljoha.
They are completely mismatched. She is reserved and distant, while he is blunt and intrusive. As the train makes its way toward the Arctic Circle, their uneasy coexistence gradually softens into an unexpected connection, revealing a quiet bond neither of them anticipated.

It’s like the serendipitous encounter of Before Sunrise and the quiet, unspoken connection of Lost in Translation, but set in a second-class Russian sleeper train, between an educated Finnish woman and a rough Russian miner. Yes, it’s hard to imagine 😂, but the result is something surprisingly raw, intimate, and deeply moving!
