Event Information

This Monday, we'll take a journey to Finland, into a small apartment where we meet Jaakko, a passionate movie lover. Blind and confined to a wheelchair due to advanced multiple sclerosis, his world has become very small, largely limited to the walls of his home.
His greatest source of happiness is his daily phone conversations with Sirpa, the woman he loves but has never met in person. When she receives devastating news about her health, Jaakko decides to make an extraordinary journey across Finland to see her for the very first time. For most people, this would be a routine trip. For Jaakko, however, it becomes an enormous adventure, requiring complete trust in strangers every step of the way—from leaving his apartment to taking taxis and a train.

This simple yet deeply moving journey unfolds into one of the most original and unforgettable Finnish films of recent years.

So why Titanic? Let's watch together and find out! 🚢

♿📞❤️The Blind Man Who Did Not Want To See Titanic (2021)🚕🚆🇫🇮

❤️ WHAT I LOVE about this film is its cinematic perspective! Instead of showing the world in a conventional way, the camera stays extremely close to Jaakko. Almost everything beyond his immediate reach is heavily blurred, often impossible to identify. What fascinated me most is that the film is visually very minimal, yet emotionally INCREDIBLY IMMERSIVE! Because we're denied a clear view of the world, we begin to rely on sound, dialogue, and our imagination—much like Jaakko himself!

And I absolutely love the heartfelt connection between Jaakko and Sirpa! Even though their relationship unfolds almost entirely through phone conversations, their affection and intimacy feel completely genuine.

And finally—Petri Poikolainen's performance! He actually lives with multiple sclerosis in real life and, like Jaakko, has lost much of his sight and mobility. The screenplay was written specifically for him, giving his performance a level of authenticity that simply couldn't be replicated!

🏆 Petri Poikolainen won Best Leading Actor at the Jussi Awards (Finland's national film awards), and the film won the Audience Award at the Venice International Film Festival. Together, the film has received 13 awards worldwide.

It is intimate, emotionally powerful, unconventional, and inventive. Don't miss this chance to experience this Finnish gem on the BIG SCREEN! 🇫🇮🎬

✨ After the film, let’s engage in a friendly discussion to share thoughts, learn from each other, and make new friends!
