Hello ✨ Soulbrighters ✨
This Monday, we’ll take a journey to Mongolia, to Ulaanbaatar, where many former nomadic families move in search of a better life, settling in yurt districts on the outskirts of the city. Here, we meet Ulzii, a bright student living with his mother and younger siblings, with a passion for physics and a dream of winning a national competition to earn a scholarship for higher education and a better life for his family.
When his mother returns to the countryside for work, Ulzii is left to care for his younger siblings through the harsh winter. And yet, even in these conditions, he keeps going, holding on to his dreams one day at a time.

This is a deeply human story of perseverance, following a young boy striving to shape his path through education against the odds.

🧑🏻📚🎓 If Only I Could Hibernate ❄️🏙️🇲🇳

❤️ WHAT I LOVE about this film is the moments between Ulzii and his siblings. Yes, he takes care of them, but they also come together as a team to survive the winter. Collecting things to burn in their stove at night, sleeping under one blanket… these moments felt so real and beautiful.

And the sense of reality comes from the fact that the film is inspired by director Zoljargal Purevdash’s own life experience. You can really feel that lived truth in the film, as it offers a rare and honest glimpse into a side of modern Mongolia we don’t often get to see!

And I also really loved the music in this film. It’s not something you hear often — blending Mongolian sounds like throat singing and traditional instruments into a style of film score, it feels modern and fresh, adding a whole new layer to the film!

🏆 A feature debut by Zoljargal Purevdash, this film became the first Mongolian film selected for the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival. It was also selected as Mongolia’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards, receiving 7 awards worldwide.

Don’t miss this rarely seen Mongolian gem on our BIG SCREEN!

✨ After the film, let’s engage in a friendly discussion to share thoughts, learn from each other, and make new friends!
