Event Information

This Monday, we’ll embark on a breathtaking journey to one of the most remote and extreme landscapes on Earth — the vast Tibetan Plateau! More than 5,000 meters above sea level, across enormous open valleys surrounded by snow-covered peaks, lies a world that appears barren at first glance, yet is filled with hidden life. This is where we meet wildlife photographer Vincent Munier, guiding writer Sylvain Tesson on a quiet and patient quest to document the infamously elusive snow leopard.

Although we encounter many animals across the Tibetan highland desert, including Tibetan foxes, bears, and Pallas’s cats, this is far from a typical nature documentary. Through tracking, hiding, waiting patiently, and blending into the natural world, the film immerses us in the extraordinary process of capturing wildlife through the lens. As they slowly uncover traces of the snow leopard, the journey becomes deeply meditative, revealing the true beauty and spirit of nature itself.

🐆🐻🦅 The Velvet Queen (2021) 🏔️❄️🇫🇷

❤️ WHAT I LOVE about this film is how incredibly immersive it feels! The film transports us to a rarely seen part of the world through mind-blowing cinematography, breathtaking wildlife photography, candid philosophical conversations between the two men while waiting in silence, and even heartwarming moments with local children in a small mountain village.

🔮I also love how the film completely redefines what a nature documentary can be. We do get to see many incredible animals in the highland desert, but the film is about the journey of finding them — learning how to be one with nature in order to witness those magical moments that most people never get to see. With a beautiful soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, the film becomes a deeply meditative journey into the wildness of nature and the quiet beauty of the unseen world.

🏆 Winner of Best Documentary Film at the César Awards (France’s Oscar), holding 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.8 on IMDb!

Trust me, this is a film you NEED to experience on our BIG SCREEN!! So, join us!
