Where to Live in Bali for Events and Social Life: Events vs Rent by Area (2026) - Guides in Canggu, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Ubud, Kuta, Sanur, Pererenan 2026

Ubud and Canggu had the most Bali event listings in late September 2026; Canggu also had the most rentals. Event counts and 2-bedroom rents by area.

Where to Live in Bali for Events and Social Life: Events vs Rent by Area (2026)

Quick answer: If a full calendar matters most, live in Canggu or Ubud. On 29 September 2026 they had the most validated listings on Balievents (25 and 27 of 83), with Seminyak close behind on 22. Canggu also has by far the most long-term rentals: 740 on Baliestate on 7 October 2026, with a median 2-bedroom asking rent of IDR 40,000,000 a month. Ubud's calendar is just as full, but it had only 75 rentals, and its 2-bedroom median was IDR 46,250,000, drawn from only 12 listings. Uluwatu had plenty of rentals (161) but only 4 event listings.

Fast facts:

    • Most event listings: Ubud 27, Canggu 25, Seminyak 22 (Balievents, 29 Sep 2026)
    • Most rentals listed: Canggu 740, Seminyak 194, Uluwatu 161 (Baliestate, 7 Oct 2026)
    • Median 2-bedroom asking rent, best sample: Canggu, IDR 40,000,000 a month from 141 listings (6 Oct 2026)
    • Thinnest calendar with plenty of rentals: Uluwatu, 4 event listings against 161 rentals

How do events and rents compare by area?

The table puts two counts side by side. The first is how many validated event listings Balievents had in each area. The second is how many long-term rentals Baliestate, our sister site for Bali property, had listed there, with the median monthly asking rent for a 2-bedroom villa.

AreaEvent listings on Balievents (29 Sep 2026)Rentals on Baliestate (7 Oct 2026)Median 2-bedroom asking rent a month (6 Oct 2026)
Ubud2775IDR 46,250,000 (12 listings)
Canggu25740IDR 40,000,000 (141 listings)
Seminyak22194IDR 31,500,000 (8 listings)
Pererenan6138IDR 40,000,000 (38 listings)
Uluwatu4161IDR 34,750,000 (22 listings)
Kuta049no median (too few comparables)
Sanur017no median (too few comparables)

Read the medians with their sample sizes. Canggu's IDR 40,000,000 comes from 141 listings and is solid. Seminyak's IDR 31,500,000 comes from eight listings, and two or three new ones could move it. These are asking rents, not what tenants finally paid.

Which area has the most going on?

Ubud and Canggu lead. In the week of 5 October 2026, Canggu's listings ran from a beginner Bahasa Indonesia class and a sunset sound float to a free real-estate coffee morning, a free founders' talk and a comedy night, with a free networking session next door in Pererenan. Ubud's upcoming listings that day included two film nights (one free, one IDR 40,000) and a comedy night, and it has its own Balievents pages for wellness and social events.

Seminyak is close on count but leans to nightlife: five of its next seven listings on 5 October 2026 were club nights.

Where can you rent close to the action without paying Canggu prices?

On these figures, nowhere on the list is much cheaper than Canggu for a 2-bedroom. The differences that matter are elsewhere:

    • Pererenan asks the same median 2-bedroom rent as Canggu (IDR 40,000,000, from 38 listings) and is next door, so Canggu's calendar is within reach. Its own calendar is smaller: 6 listings.
    • Seminyak shows the lowest 2-bedroom median here, IDR 31,500,000, but from only eight listings. Treat it as a lead to check, not a finding.
    • Uluwatu (IDR 34,750,000 from 22 listings) has plenty of homes to rent, but few listed events. Expect to drive north for a weekly community calendar.
    • Ubud has the fewest rentals of the five and the highest 2-bedroom median, from only 12 listings. It had the most event listings of any area.

For 1- and 3-bedroom figures, and the spread inside each area, see Baliestate's monthly rent guide, area by area.

How should you choose between them?

Start from the week you want, not from the rent:

    • Out three or four nights a week, mixed crowd: Canggu, or Pererenan if you want quieter streets nearby.
    • The biggest calendar outside the coast, with its own wellness and social pages: Ubud.
    • Late nights: Seminyak.
    • Surf and sunsets first, events second: Uluwatu, accepting the drive for community nights.
    • Quiet: Sanur, where our calendar had nothing listed on 29 September 2026; see the Sanur events guide for what does happen there.

Then spend a month in that area on a monthly rental before you sign for a year. Our guide to using your first month of events to choose where to live explains how.

What the numbers do not tell you

    • They are snapshots. One day's listings on each site, not a yearly average. Event counts rise around full moons, holidays and high season.
    • An event listing is matched to an area by its location, venue or title, so an event that names two areas counts in both. Venues that publish their own programme and do not list on Balievents are not counted.
    • Rents are asking prices from Baliestate's partner agencies, not the whole market, and not what tenants agreed to pay.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area in Bali to live for events and social life?

Canggu or Ubud. On 29 September 2026 they had 25 and 27 of the 83 validated event listings on Balievents. Canggu also had by far the most long-term rentals on Baliestate: 740 on 7 October 2026.

Is it cheaper to rent in Ubud or Canggu?

On 6 October 2026 the median 2-bedroom asking rent was IDR 40,000,000 a month in Canggu (141 listings) and IDR 46,250,000 in Ubud (12 listings). Ubud's figure rests on far fewer listings, so the gap is uncertain.

Is Uluwatu a good base if I want to go to events?

For a weekly community calendar, less so: Balievents had 4 validated listings there on 29 September 2026, against 25 in Canggu. It had plenty of rentals, 161 on Baliestate on 7 October 2026.

Where do these numbers come from?

Event counts are Balievents' own validated listings. Rental counts and medians come from Baliestate, a property search site run by the same company, which reports asking prices from its partner agencies with the date and the listing count behind each figure.
