Is there an open mic at La Luz?

Yes, for musicians. Magic Carpet Night on Wednesdays is an open stage: the "funky baba" brothers play oud and flute, and musicians are invited to join them for a jam. It is free to attend, 7 – 10 PM.

What is improv at La Luz like?

There are two sessions a week, and anyone can join:

  • Improv Practice (Monday morning): a "skills playshop" built around deep listening. No experience needed.
  • Improv Theatre (Thursday afternoon): play-based improv to wake up your creative, child-like side. "Anyone can join. Anyone can play."

Both are low-cost, so they are an easy first try.

What is Human Play?

An interactive workshop on Friday mornings, inspired by the Meisner approach. Through simple exercises you practise responding honestly, reading emotional cues and talking with more confidence. The listing says clearly that it is not an acting class: it is about feeling present with people and easing social anxiety.

Is La Luz free?

Magic Carpet Night is free. The improv sessions are IDR 20,000 and IDR 50,000, and Human Play is IDR 450,000.

There is also one more Free Voices session on Wednesday 21 October, 10 – 11:30 AM, at IDR 100,000: a no-pressure singing group for anyone shy about their voice.

How do I book La Luz events?

  • Free night: open Magic Carpet Night, press Book and leave a name and an email.
  • Paid session: open the event, choose the date and pay on BaliEvents. A 3% service fee is added at checkout, and the total is shown before you pay.

Is there stand-up comedy in Ubud?

La Luz's listings are improv and music, not stand-up. For stand-up, Secret Comedy Night plays Ubud on Fridays — see the Secret Comedy Night guide and comedy and social nights in Bali.
